Jonathan Cook is the founder of The Cook Group which formed in October, 1993. Prior and subsequent to forming The Cook Group, he was a partner/owner of Appraisal Associates for 13 years. Previous to Appraisal Associates Mr. Cook worked with Peterson Development Company, was a sales agent for Tracy Realty and maintained a professional property management company known as Wade-Cook Property Management. Mr Cook graduated from the University of Utah in Organizational Communications with emphasis in Business Management. He became a member of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers (MAI) in 1985 and has served on various committees for the Utah Chapter of the Appraisal Institute. He was on the Board of Directors of the Utah Chapter of the Appraisal Institute for seven years prior to 2006. In 2005, he was President of the Utah Chapter of the Appraisal Institute. In 1993 he was chairman of the Salt Lake Subchapter of the Appraisal Institute. Mr. Cook has been President of Comp-U-Share, Inc., a large data share non-profit organization. Mr. Cook was an affiliate member of the Salt Lake Board of Realtors. He was currently certified under the Appraisal Institute's voluntary continuing education program. He has appraised such properties as the L.D.S. Hospital for I.H.C., the Fort Douglas for the Army Corps. of Engineers, all commercial properties in Sanpete County for the County Assessment, the State Fairgrounds for the State of Utah, most of the estate properties of Wally Woodbury of Woodbury Corporation which included over 75 properties, and all the Triad properties for the bankruptcy court. Mr. Cook has appraised in most all states in the Western United States and has a vast data network in most all western markets. Mr. Cook passed away in 2016 due to complications from stage IV bladder cancer. His son/business partner David D. Cook who he mentored for 15 years now leads the company.
